I remember many years ago having a discussion about how unintentionally “bad” things (think Ed Wood) had gone the way of the dinosaur with media having become so overproduced by committee and only concerned with profits, with unusual voices being silenced by businesses that found no need for them…

and then the internet exploded with opportunity for amateur talents.

Anyone can have a dream and make it happen, so long as that dream is limited to becoming a viral video.

Just take A. Samuels, a 55 year old casino executive who wants to be a rapper.

Laughs »Viral Video Film School

on Youtube and Current TV

For a guy that looks like just some kid I would have been friends with in high school, or alternatively just some kid I wouldn’t have been friends with in college, Brett Erlich is one funny guy.

You might recognize him from the better than it needed to be Rotten Tomatoes TV show, but I prefer these Viral Video Film School videos, available on youtube and on current TV.

Tackling such themes as Stunt Fails, Adorable Puppies, and Scary Robots, these little shorts have also introduced me to such things as “haulers” (people who who what they just bought during a shopping trip on youtube) and “cash gifting” (a scam where people online ask you to send money for no real reason).

Laughs »John Jacobson and His Double Dream Hands

Awesome Dance Routine

Thanks dad for introducing me to the glory that is John Jacobson, the enthusiastic, glowing white toothed choreographer who has introduced me to the double dream hands move. The short instructional video may seem repetitive but you’ll want to stick around for the cabbage patching and free styling at the end.

Jacobson, as frighteningly Disney channel as he is, seems to be a man who means well. According to his site “John is the founder and volunteer president of America Sings! Inc., a non-profit organization that encourages young performers to use their time and talents for community service.”

But still, this just makes me laugh – and want to learn the routine for the next time I am find myself in spandex or in the middle of a dance party.

Slowed Down Olsen Twins

Thanks to Steve, of Team Assignment for linking to this awesome, slowed down version of an Olsen Twins ode to pizza. It’s the latest in slowed down pre teen pop (see Bieber slowed down 800 percent) that results in something way more amazing than the straight to VHS song could ever dream to aspire to. I think Biz Markie should cover this.
