Laughs »Wizard People Dear Reader

wizard people dear readers? For me, Brad Neely's alternative commentary track for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone calls to mind the expressive ramblings and raspy, wild, and often despairing voice of suicidal beat poet Steven Jesse Bernstein. Inspired by the idea of retelling the popular tale from a wildly misinformed (he refers to Hagrid as Hagar the Horrible and mistakes Snape for a woman) though enthusiastic point of view, Neely has created a sort of cult phenomenon that has made Warner Brothers bristle.

Though there are curse words, it's not a low brow piece of appropriation with mere fart jokes and f-words – it's far more interesting and bizarre than that.

This is another great tip from RC author and good friend Jessica, thanks!

Laughs »Worst Line Reading Ever

ryan o'neal line reading Video searches for Tommy Wiseau and his masterwork, The Room (read all about it above) brought me to this little gem entitled “Worst Line Reading Ever”. It's from a film called?a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tough_Guys_Don't_Dance_(film)” target=”_blank” title=”Tough Guys Don\'t Dance Wikipedia”>”Tough Guys Don't Dance” and it just proves that as much as Norman Mailer can fight and write, directing is simply not his forte.

Despite a cast including the always incredible Isabella Rossellini, and?Ryan Oneal (sorry for your loss Ryan), this one has become a minor cult camp classic due to scenes like this one. Oh god, oh man, oh god, oh man, oh god, oh man indeed.

Laughs »Hoogie Boogie Land

hoogie boogie landI might not be giving enough credit to the idiots in other countries, but I believe that terrible, drunken jam rocking by a dude wearing a cat in the hat hat is uniquely American.

Hoogie Boogie Land, though initially familiar in terms of the great American drunk jamming tradition, is like nothing else. You will gape in wonder. No one could try to be this bad. No one.

If you don't find it amazing the first go round, it will hit you on the tenth viewing, because I promise, you will be somehow compelled to watch again and again.

So spark it up, Sparky!

Laughs »Chiru Dance Number

chiru monkey costumeThere's not much information on the mid-eighties Telugu film Adavi Donga starring Chiranjeevi and Radha and a slew of dancers donning paper mache animal heads, but I am greatly intrigued.. especially since this is the only other image online for the film.

Laughs »Green Porno

isabella rossellini green porno beesWith her alluringly soothing voice, I'd probably listen to the beautiful Isabella Rossellini talk about anything. Luckily for me I can hear her talk about a subject as interesting as the reproduction cycles of animals!

In Green Porno, a series of funny and quirky shorts which she created, produced, wrote and directed, the often Sci Fi-like like mating practices of insects and, in this season marine animals, are explained in entertaining and scientific detail.

Each episode features fun, handmade costumes and sets by Brooklynite Andy Byers. A recent clip about whale penises has been featured on The Soup, but you can see them all on the Sundance website.

Laughs »All your base are belong to us

All your base are belong to us See it here

The History:
1.Toaplan creates the Zero Wing video game.

2.Toaplan releases a port for the Sega Genesis console with the addition of an intro scene, which is then translated into english (very poorly) and released in the United States.

3. Toaplan goes out of business.

4. Someone from a Zany Video Game Quotes website notices the poor translation, and highlights the game.

5. Overclocked.org does a humorous voiceover of the Zero Wing intro in a fake Wayne Newton voice.

6. Dozens of game-related messageboards begin to post quotes from the parody, and images altered to show the phrase.

7. Most of the threads lose interest and die off quickly as the trend is pronounced dead countless times.

8. The Flash movie/video is released with images from the threads and music taken from the original game someone had added the phrase “all your base” to.

9. AYB explosively expands to the general (non game messageboard-reading) public.

10. The original site for the video is shut down within hours due to excessive traffic, and moves to PlanetStarsiege.

11. Lycos ponders how “All your Base” was transformed from obscurity to a top 50 search practically overnight.

12. Mainstream media begin to notice the trend, and stories appear in Time Magazine, USA Today, Fox News, The Los Angeles Times, Tech TV, Wired, and many others.

13. As the 'remix' used in the video goes from 58 hits a day to several thousand per day, mp3.com notices the track has been ripped directly from the video game and pulls the music off their site due to copyright violations. It is later returned unchanged.

14. The trend continues to grow as it expands into nearly every corner of the web.

15. Large websites like Angelfire and Hewlett Packard sneak “all your base” references into their designs.

16. “All Your Base” is pronounced dead several times every day, yet it's 15 minutes of fame continue for some reason…
