Spend a Couple Minutes »Get a Real Tree

I’ve never had a real tree while living on my own, and I still don’t this year… but since we’re celebrating the holiday at my sister’s place, I can live vicariously through her beautiful blue spruce we helped pick out. We found it at the adorable hippie-run tree stand on Bedford and Metropolitan. This week we’ll be dressing it up as a family… awww, which we haven’t done since I was a kid. Can’t wait!

My good friend Laura forwarded this inspiring link of Artists’ Homemade Christmas Cards. I’d love to say it made me make my own, but I am afraid that it’ll be another year sans craftiness sent from my house.

Still, it’s great to peruse and will definitely get you into the Christmas spirit. Some of my personal favorites are below/after the jump.

world peace cookiesfrom Baking: From My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan

I’ve praised the superlative baking skills of my coworker Sarafina before and I’m thrilled to share another wonderful recipe which she included in this year’s cookie gift bag: World Peace Cookies. The paring of sweet and salty is fantastic; the recipe comes from Dorie Greenspan, the baker bakers swear by. Bring a batch of these to your next holiday party and you’ll be a hit!
