Reference Library is a great visual collection of interesting items with an American hand-made bent that on any given day makes you want to throw on a pair of Lees, go climb a tree, sew something, or dig through an attic.

Web Sites »Chained and Perfumed
I really can't recall how I came across the blog Chained and Perfumed but damned if I don't feel a kinship with their sensibility. From the site:
“This blog covers mostly pop culture garbage (mid to low brow). I am interested in music, old movies, television (though I haven't really followed a series since Buffy left the air), non fiction reading, old magazines(!), and celebrity gossip. My favorite movies as of late are Modesty Blaise, Bay of Angels and The Long Goodbye. My favorite band is The Beatles (Paul's my favorite but I like them all) and Pavement and lots more. I love old magazines.”
Sounds great to me! (except the whole Pavement hoopla, but I think that's just a boy thing).

Web Sites »Journey Round My Skull
I am a longtime, huge admirer of Journey Round My Skull a “Unhealthy book fetishism from a reader, collector, and amateur historian of forgotten literature.” Go there for inspiring images from around the world and over the decades. You're unlikely to find a more visually compelling collection of graphic design and interesting illustration anywhere

Web Sites »Luxirare
Luxirare is such a stunning elevated perfectionism, that scrolling through her large, luscious images of wild fashion and even wilder home made foods is somewhat mind boggling. How can this woman, who creates such fascinating things with an incredible knack for aesthetic detail, who only appears with a blurred out face, possibly be human?
I am envious beyond belief of fellow style bloggist, Style Bubble receiving the truly rare gift of one of Luxirare's garments: a pierced breast embroidered motorcycle jacket PLUS a perfectly packaged jar of her own truffle honey. Ouch, the thought of that on hot biscuits is painfully dreamy.

Web Sites »Lady Starlight’s Rock and Roll High School
Lady Starlight seems to be some kind of clubbing superstar of NYC nightlife. But I wouldn't know anything about that because I'm the one home writing blogs like this and snuggling my cats at one in the morning as opposed to say, this. She was also Lady Gaga's original collaborator – also something I know little about but I have an inkling our Miss Starlight inspired all those wacky lovably out of control costumes because she knows the meaning of fun and spandex.
The girl's got great taste and will inspire you with images of metal and glam's most spectacular fashions on her blog Lady Starlight's Rock and Roll High School. All the well known greats are here, like Iron Maiden and Roxy Music, but like any good site, it might introduce you to new names?- Sweeney Todd or Alvin Stardust perhaps?

Web Sites »BryanBoy
This style insider has a passion for fashion that has won him the hearts of fashion fans and legends. Marc Jacobs has even named a purse after Bryan Boy. His entries, including his videos “Faggotry in Motion” are swishy and charming. From praising Barbara (“I love her!”) to describing his afternoon (just a photo of a martini and shopping bags), you'll get your fix of tiny Filipino fab daily.
I also love that he takes his portraits for interviews draped over a camels back, dripping in unusual fur.

Web Sites »Vintage Kids Books My Kid Loves
If you're my age, you'll find yourself on the most pleasant stroll down memory lane with Vintage Kids' Books My Kid Loves. If you can recall a “terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day“, or you too have had “Too Much Birthday Party“, or just plain like the sound of the name Berenstain, then you'll love digging through the past with the fantastic work of William Steig, Maurice Sendak, Theo LeSieg, and the lighter side of Edward Gorey.
The blogger, who authors charming write ups of the books, is a:?/p>
“Writer. Mother. Wife. Born Floridian. Reared South Carolinian. Schooled Virginian. One time New Yorker. Semi-new Texan. I write about life's little highs and woes for the hub/bub and me, here. And I write about seeking vintage children's books from thrift shops, library sales, book stores, online and elsewhere to share with my son.”

Laughs »Awkward Family Photos
There's truly nothing more humorous than awkward family photos, so a site called Awkward Family Photos, which specializes in nothing but, is ingenous. Enjoy hours of funny, awkward browsing.

Web Sites »Style Bubble
It's quite odd that I've failed to recommend Style Bubble before, as it is (time permitting) one of the blogs on fashion that I tend to visit near daily. With an emphasis on avant garde stylings (often on herself ), undiscovered designers (this week features the layered technicolor meets 1930s creations of Tim Ryan and the strappy goth looks of Lotta Volkova) and updates on local (UK) stores, Style Bubble is as informative as it is inspiring.
Susie, a editor for the Dazed and Confused website, but more famous now for her influential blog, sometimes reveals her pains and insecurities, (particularly about mean spirited comments which makes for awkward reading) but also stands as a beacon of originality, a girl who dresses for herself and enjoys it.

Web Sites »QB Stuff
Have a great time browsing through the extensive QB Stuff gallery of precode crime and horror comics of the 1950's. Before the Comic Books Code of America got involved, covers and content used to be much darker and gruesome; my favorites are the EC Comics Crime and SuspensStories.
