newmathMath + Observation = Hilarity

I may be late in discovering the wit of Craig Damrauer – the Times has been posting his often hilarious equations in their Freakonomics blog for a while – but, for anyone else that’s missed out on his simple, poignant and funny work (which has since been published in a book) I pass along his website.

Web Sites »Planet Awesome Kid

planet awesome kidCool Kid Style

Planet Awesome Kid is, in a word, Awesome! Like The Sartorialist for the under twelve set, the blog is packed with smile-inducing images of cool kids in cool threads. With my days of aunt-hood rapidly approaching, and as a designer in the children’s clothing business, it’s a well of inspiration and one of the most pleasant places to stop on my daily internet journeys. In addition, the site links up with local and global children-based charities

Web Sites »Cosmic Dust

cosmic dustMagical Image Gallery

I can spend absurd amounts of time in the visual world collected on Cosmic Dust. Although I sometimes wish there was a bit more info about the images and where/how they were gathered, it’s a small qualm for such an engaging site. The definite point of view is one of magic, myth, hippiedom, and nomadic wonder. I’ve gathered just a few of my favorite images from the past few weeks here, but be sure to go to the site and rummage through the archives and see the daily new posts.

Web Sites »The Catalyst

While Googling 'cat fashion' (because how else would I unwind while half-watching Glee and eating cereal late at night?) I found the wonderful little blog Catalyst, and in it a kindred spirit who not only loves cats and fashion, but geodesic domes!!?/p>

I'm bummed that author Jenny didn't stick it out longer than a year or so, but the near year of imagery is a fun and inspirational way to pass the time, even if it is finite.

Web Sites »Digibarn Computer Museum

Digibarn Computer Museum is an old timey computer nerd's dream! And even though I'm not an old timey computer nerd (though I do get excited thinking back on afternoons spent playing Zork), I do love their collection of Byte Magazine covers from the 1970's, so much so that I put a few favorites up over on RC.

Laughs »Tim Heidecker Tumblr

tim heidecker tumblrTim Heidecker may be a bit thin on content on his tumblr page – but like usual it all makes me laugh. Listen as he strings along a speed diet pill pusher along a nearly endless conversation about his sad life as a school bus driver, his adventures in credit card theft and the one time his dad held a gun inside his mouth. Amazingly, through it all, the woman is still trying to get him to buy her product.

There's also a great AM gold song about a weatherman that includes the wonderful lyric “I said Barry when are you gonna grow up and finally put those brandies down?”

There's also a clip from the infamously short lived Chevy Chase show.
