TV Shows »Messiah, Rebus, and The Vice

Ken Stott BBC has innumerous thrillers and mysteries, but all three of these stand out because of the man on the left, Ken Stott . He may not look like much at first sight, but after beating heart throb Robson Green by starring in three consecutively airing (on BBC America) mystery series, there's more than him than meets the eye.

He is absorbing and charming in all three series, with Rebus being the best and The Vice being the most outlandish. These mysteries are perfect lazy afternoon viewing.

TV Shows »Swan’s Crossing

Swan's Crossing I don't usually like to recommend things that can't be found, but this is more than a recommendation – it is a plea. If anyone knows how to get ahold of this amazing, dramatic, teen soap opera please let me know!! I used to know a guy that had every episode – and do you know what he did with them? He destroyed them before his obsession with Swan's destroyed his life. That moment is one of the only ones in my life I would go back and change – I would have saved those tapes from destruction.

Here are a few elements to this stupendous classic – a young Sarah Michelle Gellar, evil Russian scientists, forbidden love through a chink in a garden wall, and an ugly but supposed to be hot girl that lives in a submarine and so much more make this (drum roll) the BEST teen show ever.

TV Shows »Dr. Who

Dr. Who Ask and ye shall receive, just weeks ago I wanted to see the new Dr. Who and was determined to track it down, then the next thing i know it is premiering on the Sci-Fi channel. A word about Sci-Fi – I really have to hand it to them that they are trying, more than most niche cable networks do to offer some interesting programming.

Dr. Who is goofy nerdy fun. Eccleston is a most charming Dr., the effects are lovingly cheesy, and Rose is the biggest looking skank on tv – and anyone who knows me, knows I have a soft spot for slutty looking blondes (think Kari of America's Next Top Model).

TV Shows »The Match Game

Match Game I was talking with Jim's aunts about all the wild times their parents had as partying adults in the sixties and seventies. Our generation has nothing on them. It is hard to picture what it must have been like, except fortunately, reruns of The Match Game have given me some insight.

Truly one of the most entertaining shows to watch, not for the actual “game” part, but the antics of totally hammered Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly and Gene Rayburn.

TV Shows »America’s Next Top Model

ANTM The beast is back, and I have to say she's got a good group of girls with her. This season's going to be rip-roaring – I can just feel it.

Mr Jay is more bulging than before (I hope his painted tit shirt still fits him) and crazy snatch Janice has made her appearance already, so hopefully we won't have to watch too much more of her.

We had Top Model's first racist, some playtime nudity wagering, bad drunkenness (I want to say up front that I hate Gina), pseudo divas (also hate Jade – she is right, she should have been discovered by now if it was meant to be, so guess what…) and some girls I actually kind of like (so far anyway).

Danielle is my favorite and not just because her occupation is “babysitter”, I also like the gap tooth, and the sass that's not too bitchy with a pinch of humor. Leslie is my second favorite because, simply enough, I think she is pretty. You think I'm too into ANTM? well, “Don't get it twisted!” is what I say to you.

TV Shows »The Sopranos

Sopranos Finally. The next to last season has been a long time coming and March 12th will be a happy day for all of us that have been waiting. I can't imagine that this so far never disappointing show will falter, but fingers crossed. If you just can't wait here are a few episode descriptions of the upcoming season. Also watch the trailer on the HBO site to get pumped.

TV Shows »Prime Suspect

Prime Suspect So Law & Order reruns and CSI are amusing enough and go down easy, and I'll watch most anything on BBC Mystery Monday, but if you want a real crime drama, a sophisticated one with top acting, an excellent script, realistic characters, genuine tension and excitement, you must rent Prime Suspect. The first one is the absolute best serial killer mystery ever. And you can quote me on that.

TV Shows »Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks When Twin Peaks first aired, it blew my mind. I still remember watching the pilot and much to the chagrin of my friends saying no to a date with one of the hottest guys from school in order to find out who killed Laura Palmer in one of the creepiest episodes.

I assume most people have seen this, considering it is perhaps the greatest and most unique shows to ever grace television, but it is always good to return and rewatch the first season, especially in colder weather. I do not, however think you need to rewatch season two.

TV Shows »The Forsyte Saga

Forsyte Saga Damien Lewis Gina McKee Ioan Gruffudd A remake of the 1967 series – arguably the first soap opera ever – this is a romantic, tragic, deeply moving gem. Former Hunk of the week, Ioan Gruffudd is outstanding as is the rest of the cast. This is a great one.

TV Shows »Paul and Pauline Calf’s Video Diaries

Paul and Pauline Calf's Video Diaries Like everything Steve Coogan creates this is brilliant stuff. Here he plays brother and sister Paul and Pauline Calf who are both vulgar and strangely appealing. These videos are highly rewatchable with subtle jokes and details to be picked up on with each viewing. Oddly touching, these are some of my favorite videos ever, and unfortunately they are only available in the british region video. But there are many good shows from BBC that are not available here that makes getting an all region player worth it.
