Style Icons: Male »David Copperfield

david cooperfield Style does not always mean good hair and good clothes. If it did Mr Copperfield would not be listed here right now. Although there is something sickly alluring about his do. The reason he is here is good old fashioned “flair”.

While David Blaine is failing to set records, (but forging a new path as a new 'magical whiner'-“oh, I have pins and needles, boo hoo”) – Copperfield is using his magic in life or death situations.

With no strings or lights, the man convinced robbers that he had nothing on him with slight of hand tricks. Awesome! And look at the way he takes his headshots – spread eagle and hung over. In other words with Flair! and style.

Style Icons: Male »Peter Lorre

Peter Lorre Although he lead a tragic life as a drug abuser, Lorre's presence on film was radiant. Eldritch yet lovable, Lorre is considered the best character actor ever. Those eyes, that voice, that wicked sense of humor. Upon seeing Bela Lugosi in his coffin, Lorre remarked to Vincent Price: “Do you think we should drive a stake through his heart just in case?”

Style Icons: Male »Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan of the Turtles

Mark Volman Howard Kaylan It is easy to be stylish when you are blessed with great looks, much more difficult and impressive when you look a little less conventionally attractive. Look at Volman perform with out a shirt and manage to look way more awesome than most people ever do.

I am nuts about these guys! And yes, it's true now a days they dress like children's party magicians from 1991, but honestly, I think at least 80% of former rock stars that survived their youth end up in the arms of a pleather vest, a pony tail, a black baseball cap and a hawaiian shirt.

Style Icons: Male »Tom Baker

Tom Baker When remember watching Dr. Who as a child, Tom Baker is Who I see. That shock of curly hair, those overcoats, the layering, and that awesome, awesome knitted scarf, the look is perfection. A new series starring Christopher Eccleston aired on BBC last year and I am tracking them down to watch.

Style Icons: Male »Jim Morrison

Jim Morrison Beards, beards, beards!! Everyone is crazy for beards. Even weirdly dated jewelry companies. So maybe New York Magazine had to be all bitchy about it, but I don't care what they say I am glad facial hair is back. Our boys are becoming men. I honor one of my favorite beards this week- the one of Mr. Morrison. His is a full luxurious mane of whiskers that reminds me of someone I love very much (see photos).

Style Icons: Male »Gram Parsons

Gram Parsons Continuing my recent obsession with Gram Parsons (see song of the week) – I pick the mad man father of country rock as my style icon. He influenced everyone he met, including the Rolling Stones and the Byrds. He lived life fast – his drug abuse was too much for even Keith Richards – and, sadly, died young (with a strange journey after his death as well). His impact on the world of music lives on.
