Time to prepare yourself for summer footwear. Although it is always a slightly uncomfortable experience having someone literally waiting on me hand and foot – the lovely young Polish ladies across the street at Magnolia ease my mind.

Spend a Couple Hours »Walking
ow that the weather is better, nothing is more gratifying to me than a city walk. I usually walk from midtown to downtown and if it so strikes me, right across the Williamsburg bridge and then home.
There is always so much happening in New York which makes it easy to forget that walking is actually exercise.

Spend a Couple Hours »Trivial Pursuit
Everyone has a chance to get a pie in this addition. Celebrating an era very dear to my heart, TP 90's beats the previous editions for shear easy playability.Clinton replaces Reagan for your best bet for president question, and for some weird reason espn.com pops up a lot. Maybe I just missed that bit of history. Perfect for “game night” with friends, which I think is growing in popularity lately.

Spend a Couple Hours »This American Life
Oh, if only I had more quiet hours in the day, I would spend them with this, the most thought provoking, multifaceted, and engrossing radio program ever.
Most all of the shows can be downloaded for free at their website. The last story in the Babysitting episode, anything by Jonathan Goldstein, readings by one of my favorite authors – George Saunders, and hilarious entries by David Sedaris are among my favorites, but there are so many I have yet to hear, I am still exploring.

Spend a Couple Hours »New York City Opera
If you are 35 and under, you only pay $30 per ticket, but get the best seats available. Jim and I usually sit ten rows back in the orchestra. A glimpse of the upcoming season is promising as well. NYC Opera is not as lavish as the Met, but tends to be more experimental and eclectic.

Spend a Couple Hours »Whitney Biennial
The Biennial opens Thursday the 2nd, so while I can't give a review of the show I am recommending it anyway. Let New York Magazine debate it's validity – I still think it is one of the most exciting museum shows and I always look forward to it. I am particularly interested in seeing the work of Matthew Day Jackson – whose show at the Perry Rubenstein Gallery I tried and failed to make it to on three separate occasions.

Spend a Couple Hours »Host A Subway Sandwich Party
I recently decided a 6 foot sub was something my parties might benefit from. I have never been so right in my life. So now it's your turn. You must have something you've wanted to celebrate with an Italian BMT.

Spend a Couple Hours »Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show
Now a tradition for Jim and I (our third year going) this is one of the nights I look forward to every year. I highly recommend going at least once especially if you are a dog lover. Make sure to show up early to see all the contestants back stage – adorably arranged from smallest to biggest. Too much fun.
