This Norwegian video from the show “?ystein og jeg” will be appreciated by anyone who has had to walk someone through the use of a new computer. Updating from scrolls to books must have indeed been a tough business with medieval nerds who knew how to use them in high demand at abbeys and castles.

Laughs »Catorialist
A cute send up of the popular and personally beloved Sartorialist, Catorialist is a perfect blend for the fashionable cat lady (like myself).

Laughs »The Sound of Thousands of Screaming Tweens
The Jonas Brothers played a show at the Apple Store. All day tweens lined up around the block and at around six the screaming started (a full two hours before the show). You just can't have that many excitable girls together at once and not expect a wave of girlish noise, but this was awesomely insane.
It sounded like fanatical lip glossed, mini skirted, smiling brace faced, innocent, overpowering young longing. It sounded like the best summer you can ever remember when you still screamed at the top of your lungs for things you didn't even know were cheesy yet.
Also, it's just nice in the city to hear a wild mob of screaming that you don't have to be afraid of.
I went by after work to take an up close look. There were a few girls nearly in tears and lots of awesome signs including the one pictured that reads “I Am Ashamed Of What I Would Do 2 Meet The Jonas Brothers“.

Laughs »44 Pound Cat
By now someone in your office or family or local paper has informed you about Powder aka “Princess Chunk“, the 44 pound cat found in New Jersey when his owner was unable to care for him. Not much is cuter than something this round and furry on four legs, but I know what's even funnier: all the clever names people have written in for the tubby kitty.
Kirstie Alley Cat, Catty Arbuckle, Beefer Sutherland, Fatt Damon, Minnesota Fats, Raymond Purr, Fats Sajak are among my favorites – I am apparently helpless before a fat celebrity name pun.

Laughs »Wendy’s Rap
This Grill Skills Wendy's training video is totally legitimate, I even knew a guy who knew a guy who had to go through the teenage humiliation of not only working at Wendy's but having to learn “grill skills” from a terrible rapper designed to be identifiable to teens (as opposed to boring “old man” Dave Thomas reading from a teleprompter) who doesn't even rhyme:
“A towel for keeping your station clean
But most of all you have to have your… tools!”
Other words of wisdom of what to do with those tools (aside from playing rapping air guitar like the guy in the video):
“It takes about four minutes to cook
But just to make sure, you can have a look
Use your tool and double check
It should by gray and moist to be correct”
Ugh. Grey… and moist… uck. How could anyone use those two words to describe food as “correct”?
If you can't catch all the lyrics the first time around, no worries. Each step is belabored in semi rap duet as the white kid tries his hand at the grill station while the rapper yells “all right” behind him. The inane rhymes (or semi rhymes) are made far more embarrassing this way.
Do Enjoy, but “Don't touch it with your finger, cause that's a big no no!”
And by the way, it's in two parts and is pretty long, but I recommend you watch it all if you want to see burger patties with big purple lady lips yelling at you about what to do to them.

Laughs »Jim Lehrer Birthday Party
Kids get into weird things. I got into Frank Frazetta super early, wanted to be Ray Parker Jr once for Halloween. I also went through a big 1950s phase (what kid can resist the dynamic duo of River & Corey in Stand by Me and the atmosphere of Fuddruckers?).
An ex of mine had a boyhood crush on Paula Poundstone. Mike recalls a kid in his class who, never having heard of Star Wars (which everyone else was way into) donned the lone Dune backpack in kindergarten.
I had a cousin who wanted to be a house when he grew up and I heard about a little girl that wanted to be a bagel for Halloween.. Yep, kids can get into pretty weird stuff.
But perhaps the weirdest and funniest is the young Mr. Henry Schally, young as in three years old. He's so obsessed with Jim Lehrer, who he calls “Jimmy Jimmy Bo Bo”, that his parents had to throw a NewsHour birthday party for the tot.

Laughs »King Henry Show
Here's just a taste of what we were surprised to be entertained by at the Brooklyn Cyclones game. His name is King Henry and he lives on BCAT (which someone was just telling me I had to take a closer look at, and it seems they were right).
His show, which is hard to get through as an adult is as tedious as it is mesmerizing. It is wildly nightmare inducing as all his guests are clowns with Brooklyn accents and his audience is made up of children sitting in a dungeon.
He's scarier in person too.

Laughs »Hairdresser
I know I have mentioned the fabulous song Hairdresser that has been shown during the Found Footage Festival and to great effect in the TV Carnage Casual Fridays compilation DVD. At nearly five minutes long ( but feeling like fifteen) it's got to be the most infectious amateur lounge song ever recorded.
Jim and I will just start singing it randomly and then… we just can't stop. I feel bad for our friends that get caught in its wake, especially those that have yet to see it. Well, you don't have to wait to see it anymore, friends. Here is the link.
It comes to the world of youtube originally from the Long Island infamous 1980's cable access show “Starway to Stardom”, a talent show with the requisite cable access wicker, room dividers, and potted fake plants and lots of debatably talented kids and weird adults with accents.
It's a cult phenom among those that grew up with it or have discovered clips, and with clips like Hairdresser and it's lyric “tease a Louise – tease a Louise, she must have been a tease a Louise!” you too are about to become a fan.

Laughs »Readymades at Neighborhoodies
At Neighborhoodies, Jim has been given a new task. He and his team must come up with ten clever t-shirt ideas a day–yes, a day! They're called “Readymades” and can be bought on the website and at times, I have to admit, Jim's pretty genius.
I am a fan of this Ice Cube one and this reference to Night of the Hunter (an awesome movie to rent if you've never seen it). This one of Winnie Cooper stealing your heart is pretty adorable and I want one, the Jason mask is classic (also want one) and any reference to Thundercats, Degrassi, Strangers with Candy, Arrested Development and Tim and Eric is okay with me.

Laughs »TV Carnage
While not every clip on TV Carnage's utterly fantastic compilations is American (lots of Canadian gems are slipped in) it is a fascinating and laugh out loud (I know that phrase is clich? but I mean it – you will be laughing at times until you can no longer breathe) is a hilarious portrait of American influenced Western culture.
Waaaaaay ahead of it's time (youtube and shows like the Soup have caught up to it) TV Carnage released it's first compilation ten years ago called “Ouch Television My Brain Hurts“. But what is this TV Carnage I speak of? I'll let them describe it as they do so eloquently on their site:
“In case you don't know: Each TV CARNAGE volume is hundreds of hours of exceptionally bad TV lovingly fused together into an hour plus; glorious cesspools of retardation.”
And I might add – they are AWESOME. Just, awesome. The Current Affair in depth story about a red neck attack on Michael Damien alone is one of the greatest things I have witnessed.
Jim and I enjoyed the compilation entitled Casual Fridays (where the Damien story and a clip from Stairway to the Stardom called “Hairdresser'' can be found) and A Sore for Sighted Eyes which understandably relies heavily on Mr T's “Be Somebody or Be Somebody's Fool”.
