Laughs »UFO Kidnapped
I recently found a really bizarre TV movie also made in Canada starring most of the same cast (minus Christine “Moose” and Lisa, the girl everyone made fun of). It's apparently called “UFO Kidnapped” and why it wasn't an instant children's classic, I am not sure. Perhaps its scenes like this one with Alasdair and inappropriate alien touching (which happens on several occasions, check out 3:12 in the video).
The Canadian accents are super strong there eh. and the special effects might be described as Lost In Space meets Barbarella divided by Doctor Who with a pinch of Land of the Lost thrown in (in other words AWESOME). I've attached some screen shots of some of the best. To watch the full video, check out Canadiantalentshines on YouTube.
The basic plot (if you can call it that) is that two brothers and their dog are “UFO Kidnapped” (ie kidnapped by a ufo). On the spaceship, they meet a weird Victorian girl, a group of of fuzzy ewok/carebear like things called Loolis (that are too like to grope anyone), a cat burglar (the same guy who played “Barf”), two midget aliens, some cyclopes, a primitive boy, and a bunch of other things that don't make that much sense. Watch and enjoy!

Laughs »Wizard People Dear Reader
? For me, Brad Neely's alternative commentary track for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone calls to mind the expressive ramblings and raspy, wild, and often despairing voice of suicidal beat poet Steven Jesse Bernstein. Inspired by the idea of retelling the popular tale from a wildly misinformed (he refers to Hagrid as Hagar the Horrible and mistakes Snape for a woman) though enthusiastic point of view, Neely has created a sort of cult phenomenon that has made Warner Brothers bristle.
Though there are curse words, it's not a low brow piece of appropriation with mere fart jokes and f-words – it's far more interesting and bizarre than that.
This is another great tip from RC author and good friend Jessica, thanks!

Laughs »Tiptoes
Judging from the three pronged striped beanie can Kate Beckinsale is wearing and the beaded braids of Patricia Arquette, I can only imagine this was originally made in the nineties, but according to Amazon, it was released to DVD in 2004.
I think we can all understand why this was not in theaters. But it is in fact, actual and real and not a joke. And yes, that is Gary Oldman walking on his knees to play a dwarf.

Laughs »Worst Line Reading Ever
Video searches for Tommy Wiseau and his masterwork, The Room (read all about it above) brought me to this little gem entitled “Worst Line Reading Ever”. It's from a film called?a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tough_Guys_Don't_Dance_(film)” target=”_blank” title=”Tough Guys Don\'t Dance Wikipedia”>”Tough Guys Don't Dance” and it just proves that as much as Norman Mailer can fight and write, directing is simply not his forte.
Despite a cast including the always incredible Isabella Rossellini, and?Ryan Oneal (sorry for your loss Ryan), this one has become a minor cult camp classic due to scenes like this one. Oh god, oh man, oh god, oh man, oh god, oh man indeed.

Laughs »Hoogie Boogie Land
I might not be giving enough credit to the idiots in other countries, but I believe that terrible, drunken jam rocking by a dude wearing a cat in the hat hat is uniquely American.
Hoogie Boogie Land, though initially familiar in terms of the great American drunk jamming tradition, is like nothing else. You will gape in wonder. No one could try to be this bad. No one.
If you don't find it amazing the first go round, it will hit you on the tenth viewing, because I promise, you will be somehow compelled to watch again and again.
So spark it up, Sparky!

Laughs »KFC’s Famous Bowl
Why do I mention it now?
Because the even grosser pasta bread bowls are now available, making these gut busters seem quaint.
Here's what I said on 1/14/08:
Never been a huge Patton Oswalt fan, he's like a friend's boyfriend you kind of like but just can't manage to get along with. However, when my coworker (the very same one that introduced me to the splendor of Ben and Jerry's Oatmeal Cookie Chunk) sent me a link to this article from the Onion, I read it with an open mind. After all, a story devoted to KFC's Famous Bowl sounds funny?and, in fact, I don't think a piece of writing on this subject could be any funnier. His talent for grotesque description is astonishing:
“Everything inside the store—including the employees and customers—looked like it had been rubbed with sad ham.”
“The corn tasted like it had been dunked in fake-corn-flavored ointment, and the popcorn chicken, breaded to the point of parody, was like chewing a cotton sleeve that someone had used to wipe chicken grease off their chin.”
I told you guys
