Hunks »Stu Sutcliffe

The Fifth Beatle

He’s known as the fifth Beatle and in lamer circles as the guy Stephen Dorff played but have you taken a good look and seen what a total doll Stu Sutcliffe was?

He was way more styling than his friends and looks decades ahead of his time.

Seriously, he could have taken over The Smiths and even Morrissey would be swooning.

While he gave up the life of Beatle fame for love and art, we never got a chance to see what would become of him. He collapsed and died at age 22 of a brain aneurysm.

Hunks »Joe Jack Talcum

Dead Milkman

Nerdy yet punk rock, scrawny but cool – these Dead Milkmen I had seen on Mtv were very unlike the boys I knew in Colorado Springs and I wanted to find them.. which I eventually did in abundance later at art school.

Lead singer Joe Jack Talcum, aka Butterfly Fairweather, aka Jasper Thread, aka Joseph Genaro and his brand of dork punk could explode on the scene today, fitting in easily with the hip young things. But these men were ahead of their times, making squares scratch their heads way back in 1988.

1988, I was ten, and the moment he giggled in the Punk Rock Girl video my life long love for arty nerds had begun.

Hunks »Frank Gorshin as The Riddler

Green Tight Spaz

I’m not sure if my attraction to Frank Gorshin‘s portrayal of The Riddler is one of my strange quirks (like thinking Benjamin Horne was kind of a babe) or if he gives everybody hotpants.

I mean sure if you were dating him and brought him out to dinner to meet your friends, undoubtedly he would be referred to as a total spaz – probably because he’d have made his entrance by exploding a Moldavian friendship cake in a plot to steal a priceless stuffed pachyderm BUT wouldn’t you agree that he’s like a leaner, funner James Cagney type who fills out a pair of green tights just fine?

Hunks »Glenn Gould

Celebrated Pianist

Glenn Gould was a rare talent and his life and unusual personality are fascinating (see 32 Short Films About Glenn Gould if you haven’t!) but I guess it just eluded me somehow that he was also such an incredibly stylish cutie.

Hunks »Jack Kerouac

He Belonged to the Beat Generation

The recent Tom Palumbo entry lead me to these stunning, heart stopping Jack Kerouac portraits and re-lit old high school stirrings.

An iconoclast of cool, his name is synonymous with the Beat movement and, just look at the man – he was wildly handsome.

Opinions on his writing vary (though the more poetic of my male friends have always fawned over On the Road), but his influence on culture and literature are undeniable.

While his life ended due to years of heavy, heavy drinking, you can feel his charisma radiating from any photograph taken of him.

Hunks »Tom Wlaschiha

Jaqen H’ghar

Well, I am just beside myself.

One of my favorite characters from A Clash of Kings, Jaqen H’ghar will be played by blue eyed German hunk Tom Wlaschiha.

Thanks to Winter is Coming for the latest casting info.

And do enjoy the most amazing fan art below.

Hunks »Iain Glen

Scottish Actor

I have a crush on Sir Jorah in Game of Thrones, played with gravitas by Iain Glen.

Whether he’s sporting rugged capes or dapper top coats, whether he’s taking to the stage or being villainous in a crappy franchise (both Tomb Raider and Resident Evil!) the Scottish gent is undeniably handsome.

I am thrilled to learn he will be joining the cast of Downton Abbey for season two, but fear for what this means for Jorah.

Hunks »Sam Beam

Singer, Songwriter, Babe

Sam Beam, aka Iron and Wine, looks like my husband spliced with Zach Galifinakis with a voice like the summer breeze. Truly hunky indeed.

Hunks »Shel Silverstein

Poet, Illustrator, Musician, Generally Awesome Guy

Shel Silverstein was a big part of my childhood, probably like many of you. I grew up reading his books and once was so haunted by one of his cassettes that I brought it to my mom crying asking her to hide it from me since, even though it terrified me, I couldn’t stop listening to it.

A talented artist, wit and musician, you can also see he was a first rate babe. Can’t you just envision him teaching a class in old school butchering or being one of the only men that wouldn’t look lame holding a guitar down on the Williamsburg waterfront? Straight up heart melter, the kind that even dudes can get psyched about (just look at the joy in Dustin Hoffman’s face just to be hanging out with him).

He sadly passed away a little over a decade ago and suffered several tragedies in his own life including the early death of a wife and daughter. He gave the world much joy though with his quirky, awesome books.
