Why do I mention it now?
There have been rumors about a Glamorama film adaptation for years but either to fan's relief or disappointment, nothing concrete has ever materialized. Not so for the big screen version of his novel The Informers (one of the most rattling books I've read) which stars Winona Ryder, Mickey Rourke and is supposed to come out in April. Word is that the vampire parts have been removed, which makes me weary.
Still, you can read his very best book, Glamorama without any fretting over how it will be rewritten (at least until those rumors come true).
Here's what is said back on 5/8/06:
One of my favorite books of all time that I am somewhat reluctant to always recommend to people. Fragile, happy people who do not like gore, torture, and hard core sex in particular.
This is an extreme book. And I do not mean in a Mountain Dew kind of way. Protagonist Victor Ward goes from “model-slash-loser” opening a new club in New York to possible terrorist and doppelganger.
The book goes insane as you read it and if you have the stomach for it, you will find it is absolutely hilarious.
But what do you think?
